WHAT IS THE ALBERIONE PROJECT?

The Alberione Project is a formation initiative at Theological College, the National Seminary of the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, dedicated to empowering a new generation of priests to evangelize through the effective use of the modern media. At the heart of this initiative is the belief that by using the New Media in a prudent, positive, and faithful way, we can plant seeds for future evangelization in the hearts of the unchurched, uncatechized, and fallen away.

We are convinced that priests play an integral role in empowering others to make full use of these powerful tools at the parish level and should be aware of their full potential for the proclamation of the Gospel. The magisterial documents of the Church have called for seminaries to begin providing formation and practical experience in this crucial area. This includes the most recent Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis, which says that seminarians should “learn, from the time of their formation, how to use these technologies in a competent and appropriate way, shaped by sound theological insights and reflecting a strong priestly spirituality grounded in constant dialogue with the Lord.”
