Alumni Days at TC
Alumni Days 2011 was held Tuesday, October 4 and Wednesday, October 5, 2011. More than 50 alumni returned to celebrate the festivities with friends and fellow classmates. This year's event included a day-long symposuim held at Catholic University on the topic of the diocesan priesthood.
Monsignor Stephen Rossetti, TC alumnus from the Class of 1984 and associate dean in the School of Theology and Religlious Studies, was the featured speaker at the sympsoium held Wednesday, October 5. His morning presentation included a review of research findings on the happiness of American priests in their present vocation and ministry in the American Church. His research findings were published in August under the title,Why Priests Are Happy. Other speakers included: Atlanta Archbishop Wilton Gregory, providing a bishop's perspective on diocesan priests and how their contentment can influence overall diocesan ministry and the diocesan presbyterate; Monsignor Robert Panke, rector of the newly formed Blessed John Paul II Seminary in Washington, D.C., offering his perspective on how research will influence future vocation discernment and recruitment practice; and Dr. John White, CUA associate professor of church history, giving a historical perspective on the American priesthood. Monsignor Rossetti's book is available through Ave Maria Press.
Father Eugene Konkel, S.S., B '57, past director of the Vatican II Institute in Menlo Park, CA, received the Alumnus Lifetime Service Award at the reunion dinner held Wednesday evening, October 5. Paterson Emeritus Bishop Frank Rodimer '51 served as guest celebrant and homilist at the reunion Mass which was held this year in the Crypt Church at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
