Today we celebrate the Feast of the Birth of St. John the Baptist. This is also known as  “mid-summer night’s Christmas” since we are six months away from Christmas Eve.  St. John the Baptist is the forerunner of the Messiah, and His great heralder.

St. John Baptist de La Salle, Founder of the Christian Brothers and a student of a Sulpician seminary once wrote, “By your vocation you are obliged to announce the truths of the Gospel every day. Practice those that are required of all Christians before you undertake to teach them to others.  Though you do not have the grace of being the precursor of Jesus Christ like the Baptist, you do possess the grace of being a successor in his ministry.”

On this Feast of St. John the Baptist, I want to announce that the Provincial Council last month approved that Rev. Chris Arockiaraj, P.S.S. (above, left), be named Vice-Rector of Theological College, and Rev. Andrew Szablewski, P.S.S. (right), be named Dean of Men.

Please join us in our prayer-filled appreciation of their continuing devoted commitment to forming seminarians after the heart of Christ Jesus, in the holy tradition of the Sulpician Fathers.

–Rev. Dominic Ciriaco, P.S.S., Acting Rector
